One of the most common requests we get as an insurance agency is for an updated ID card which are typically sent out at every renewal on your auto insurance. However most of us get a lot of mail and are busy so the cards get lost, or never make it in to the covered automobile. Your insurance coverage will still be in place, but if you get pulled over by an officer of the law you could get cited for not having proof of current insurance and none of us want that. Depending on the officer and/or the judge they might toss out the violation once proof of insurance is furnished, but there is no guarantee they will.
In an effort to make sure this never happens to you we wanted to be sure that everyone was aware that most, if not all of the insurance companies we represent have a mobile app you can download from Google Play, or the App Store. These apps are great as they will provide you with proof of insurance, you can access your billing, get roadside assistance, file a claim, and many other features and not have to make sure you always have your current ID card in your glove box.
PEMCO, Safeco, Mutual of Enumclaw, Travelers, Progressive, and Metlife should all have apps you can find in your smart phone's app store. I (Ben Miller) have downloaded the Safeco app on my phone and now have peace of mind I will always have proof of insurance anywhere I might need it.
On top of all the benefits it will also help save trees when we don't have to print ID cards every time our insurance renews.
